Training: Alan was born in Perth, Scotland, and trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Theatre includes: in the West End, Herr Zeller/ understudy Max in The Sound of Music (London Palladium), Von Hussler and understudy George Banks in Mary Poppins (original cast, Prince Edward and Bristol Hippodrome), Ralph/Gangster in Kiss Me, Kate, M Andre and Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s and tour), Bishop and understudied and played both male leads, Valjean and Javert, in Les Misérables, Charlie Cameron in Brigadoon and Parchester in Me and My Girl. Also, Carousel (Chichester Festival), Mind the Gap (Canal Cafe), Oliver!, Amadeus, An Inspector Calls, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Mikado, Piaf and She Loves Me (Perth), The Duchess of Malfi (Lyceum, Edinburgh), The Innocent (Traverse, Edinburgh), Twelfth Night, Of Mice and Men, The Merchant of Venice and Lass Wi’ the Muckle Mou’ (Brunton Theatre Company, Musselburgh), The Thrie Estates, The Big Window, A Wee Touch O’ Class and The Bruce (Edinburgh Festival), Night Sky (Stellar Quines Theatre Company, Scottish tour) and many other tours including his own one-man show, Being Frank (First Base Theatre).
