Edward was born in Sweden but moved to South Africa where he acted in theatre and television before coming to London.
Theatre includes: in South Africa, Bobby Child in Crazy for You, Bill Snibson in Me and My Girl, Curly in Oklahoma!, the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Captain Tempest in Return to the Forbidden Planet, Harry Ritchie in Brigadoon, Danny Zuko in Grease, Mike Costa in A Chorus Line and Riff in West Side Story, a part he played again in London (Prince Edward and Prince of Wales).
In London: Nigel Danvers in Salad Days (West End revival), Gilbert Redman in The Lady Vanishes adapted from the film, the title role in Dick Barton Special Agent, Don Lockwood in Singin’ in the Rain, J Bowden Hapgood in Anyone Can Whistle, Side by Side by Sondheim, Sebastian in Twelfth Night and Nanki-Poo in The Mikado (Barbados Holders Opera Festival). Edward played Cable in Trevor Nunn’s production of South Pacific (NT). Also, recently, Jerry Lukowski in The Full Monty (Olympia, Dublin), John Brownlow in Secretary Bird and Evan Davies in September Tide (tour).
Film includes: De-Lovely and the thriller Botched, filmed in Ireland.
Television includes: the recurring role of Joe Fisher in Emmerdale. He is best known as Mr Malachay, the sports master, in several series of Grange Hill and was recently seen in Doctors.
