Gareth Valentine studied at the Royal College of Music, London and then with Sir Peter Pears at Aldeburgh’s Advanced School of Singing and Strings.

His recent Musical Supervisor credits include Barbara Cook in concert (Coliseum), Wicked (West End), Acorn Antiques (UK Tour) and Porgy & Bess at the Savoy Theatre, directed by Trevor Nunn (where Gareth provided the Musical Adaptation).

Musical Supervision credits include: Musical Supervisor and Conductor for Sinatra (London Palladium), directed by David Leveaux where he provided New Musical Arrangements; Musical Supervisor and Dance Arranger for the Victoria Wood musical Acorn Antiques (2005), directed by Trevor Nunn; Composer of the original score and Musical Supervisor for the new Christmas Pantomime at The Old Vic, Aladdin (2004 & 2005), starring Sir Ian McKellen,

Musical Supervisor for the Sondheim’s 75th Birthday Children Will Listen – The Words and Music of Stephen Sondheim (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane); Musical Supervisor/ Judge for the new television series Musicality, screened on Channel 4;

Gareth has conducted the BBC Concert Orchestra on numerous occasions including most recently in June 2005, BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night at the Mermaid Theatre. Gareth has also conducted the National Symphony Orchestra and he has been an Adjudicator for the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and the BBC Voice of Musical Theatre.

Gareth’s REQUIEM was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and was released on 1st December 2001 on the TER label. It has been performed all over the world, including San Francisco, Melbourne, Colorado, Scandinavia, San Diego and Southwark Cathedral, London and Helsinki. Also at Cadogan Hall, London.
